At The Shoppes Off Trade, we believe every handmade piece tells a story. Today, we’re thrilled to introduce you to the talented hands behind our upcoming workshop: Deborah Ramirez. Known for her stunning work with crushed glass and resin, Deborah brings a unique blend of color, light, and texture to the Greer art scene.

As a seasoned crafter, Deborah’s journey into the world of resin was born from a desire to make the beauty of glass artistry more accessible. She sought out a medium that captured the brilliance of traditional glasswork but offered a approachable, tactile experience that everyone—regardless of skill level—could enjoy. Today, her brand CaliCoast Designs is a testament to that vision, turning simple fragments into radiant works of art.

What first drew you to working with crushed glass and resin? "I am a seasoned crafter and I really wanted to find an easier way to use glass that everyone can use."

What is your favorite part about teaching others this craft? "I love to help people learn a new craft and that they can be proud of themselves for creating something that brings them joy."

What’s one insider tip for making a suncatcher really pop? "Place in a sunny window to catch all the beautiful colors that reflect in the light."

What can you expect to take home? Beyond a great experience, every guest will leave with a custom crushed glass suncatcher. You’ll choose your own colors, finish it with resin, and add a beaded wire hanger for that final artisan touch. Your masterpiece will be packed in a large carryout box to take home, where it will fully set within 24 hours.
